Introduction
Sika
Danmark A/S (Sika Cufadan) is one of the world leaders in the development,
manufacture and supply of a complete range of marine primary deck
coverings, fire rated and sound reducing flooring systems for the
reduction of airborne noise and damping of structure borne noise
under the brand name SikaFloor® Marine.
As
a member of the Swiss Sika Group, the service package includes a
comprehensive range of structural sealants and adhesives for cruise
ships, ferries, leisure boats, luxury yacht, commercial ships and
offshore equipment manufacturing yards. This extensive line of marine
products – Sikaflex® – covers all of your caulking,
levelling, bedding, protecting, sealing, bonding and glazing needs.
We
offer simple solutions that provide efficient and effective results
at very competitive prices. The unique features of our products
are setting new standards for weight reduction, noise reduction,
thermal insulation and fire resistance.
Primary
Deck Coverings
SikaFloor®
Marine S-110 Lightweight Deck Covering
SikaFloor® Marine KG-202 Lightweight Underlay
SikaFloor® Marine KG-204 Standard Underlay
SikaFloor® Marine KG-404 Quick Drying Underlay
SikaFloor® Marine Thermo-Light Lightweight
SikaFloor® Marine E-43 Epoxy Deck Covering
S-110
Lightweight Levelling Compound
SikaFloor®
Marine S-110
is a single component, lightweight deck covering with a density
of 0,9 g/cm3 used in thicknesses up to 10 mm.
SikaFloor®
Marine KG-202 is a multi component, lightweight
underlay, with a density of 0,9 g/cm3, used in thicknesses from
8 mm and up. With densities this low, substantial weight savings
are obtained over
conventional products.
SikaFloor®
Marine KG-204
is a fast curing multiple-use underlay with a density of 1,2 g/cm3,
used in thicknesses from 8 mm and up.
SikaFloor®
Marine KG-404
is a standard multiple underlay, with a density of 1,4 g/cm3, used
in thicknesses from 8 mm and up.
SikaFloor®
Marine Thermolight is a lightweight thermal insulation underlay,
with a density of 0,6 g/cm3, used in thicknesses from 10 mm and
up.
SikaFloor®
Marine E-43 Strö
is both an epoxy primer and a deck finish material for wet room
areas, with a density of 1,2g/cm3 (unfilled) 1,5g/cm3 (filled).
Constructions
for vibration damping and sound reduction
The
comfort requirements are steadily being increased, setting new standards
for the maximum allowable noise and vibration level onboard ships.
Regardless whether we are talking about cruise ships or working
vessels, the new requirements have been introduced to protect passengers
and seamen against noise.
Even
though the noise sources on today’s ships are equipped with
the most effective means of reducing the transmission of noise and
vibration, it is experienced that a sufficient noise reduction cannot
be obtained without additional noise reduction on the steel deck
and bulkheads. Sound reducing and damping solutions are required
to meet today’s standards. These solutions are described below.
Constrained
visco-elastic vibration damping systems
SikaFloor®
Marine PK-90
SikaFloor® Marine PK-90 Steel
SikaFloor® Marine PK-90 Steel Vertical
SikaFloor® Marine PK-90 Alu

PK-90
Constrained Visco construction
The
PK-90 constrained visco-elastic damping construction applied on
top of the deck plates is the solution to reduce the radiated sound
power from the deck.
The
resonant vibration of the deck is decreased by increasing the loss
factor of the deck construction.
SikaFloor®
Marine PK-90 systems provide an extremely
high sound reduction, which by far exceeds all similar systems.
The ILv (Insertion Loss) in dB re 10-9 m/s is 14-19 dB largely throughout
the entire frequency area. This unique vibration damping construction
consists of SikaFloor®
Marine PU-Red viscoelastic damping layer and steel or Alu tiles
or SikaFloor® Marine KG-303 compound
as constraining layer.
Sound
Reducing Floating Floors
SikaFloor®
Marine Litosilo (A-60)
SikaFloor® Marine Litosilo Light (A-60)
SikaFloor® Marine Litosilo Steel (A-60)
SikaFloor® Marine Litosilo Alu

The
SikaFloor® Marine
Litosilo and the SikaFloor®
Marine Litosilo Light (both A60 with only 20 mm
mineral wool). SikaFloor® Marine Litosilo
Light (A60) is a similar product to the well known SikaFloor
Marine Litosilo. The product offers easy application
and low weight 22,5 kg per m2 (excl. Rockwool® marine slabs).
The
SikaFloor® Marine Litosilo Steel
construction is unique, as it is a combination of a constrained
visco construction and a floating floor construction. This combination
provides extremely high sound reduction
in the low frequency area as well as in the high frequency area.
The
marine slabs are specially developed, thus they provide a significant
improvement compared to conventional marine slabs.
The
SikaFloor® Marine Litosilo
system provides a very good sound reduction effect (impact and structure
borne) with very low building heights from 45 mm.

Increasing
demands made by regulatory authorities, ship owners and passengers
with regard to the noise level on board the ships can only be met
by a global evaluation of the build up principles of the accommodation.
In
the noise sensitive areas there will be a need for noise reducing
measures, such as insulation, noise reducing floorings and general
low noise accommodation design principles.
Special
attention should be given to areas in the vicinity of the engine
room, propulsion system, above discotheques, below areas with high
level of human activities, etc., as these areas are especially exposed
to both airborne, impact and structure borne noise.
A
suitable floor construction with good noise reducing properties
throughout the frequency range, and especially in the low frequency
range, is the combined visco-elastic and floating flooring systems.
Our visco-elastic systems are also used under teak decks to reduce
the propagation of impact noise to the below areas.
Fire
rating
With
the exception of the Alu solutions all SikaFloor® Marine Litosilo
systems and combination systems are A60 Class approved according
to the latest IMO testing standards for “A” Class division,
fire integrity.
Approvals
All
SikaFloor® Marine products are Wheelmark approved according
to Council Directive 96/98/EC on Marine Equipment and also approved
by major authorities, including US Coast Guard as well as by the
leading Classification Societies, in compliance with the IMO rules.
